Classes

Our fitness classes range from easy to follow workouts through to advanced step and the latest indoor cycling routines. There is always a class running and our instructors are trained to some of the highest levels around.

The Abbey Sports & Leisure Club team of teachers provide the inspiration for a timetable of classes that are safe, effective and fun! Our workouts are suited to a wide range of fitness levels and abilities. If you are unsure about which classes to attend please do not hesitate to speak to the teacher or a member of gym staff who will be more than pleased to advise you.

Series of exercises which will help to tone and develop your core!
Previous experience of Pilates is beneficial for the Tuesday evening Pilates class with Chris. Please contact reception for details.
This program will strengthen your entire body. It targets all major muscle groups by using exercises such as squats, presses, lifts and curls. Whilst also completing the exercises in a HIIT workout and therefore making it an intense workout.
A toning & conditioning class with weights. It is suitable for both men & women who want to have the confidence to add strength training to their exercise programmes. The class follows present choreography with motivating music & routines that will help everyone to develop both their strength & endurance. Previous experience of weighted workouts is beneficial to maximize your workout.
Group cycling with a teacher, this class is an excellent cardiovascular workout, energetic & motivating. We will try to make you feel that you are in the great outdoors. To protect your bums cycling shorts are a good idea!! It’s a great fun, guarantees a sweat!
Literally stepping on and off a variable height platform this structured workout is suitable for all levels of fitness and is designed to improve your aerobic fitness and co-ordination. It can also be a low impact experience and is therefore less stressful on the joints.
The perfect combination of traditional Yoga and fitness exercise that will improve your core, strength, flexibility, aerobic fitness and much more.
A dynamic mix of Ashtanga, Iyengar & Sivanada Yoga. It is heat generating, stamina building and helps to develop a body that is strong and also flexible.

A combination of high low, low or mixed disciplines to give your fitness level a real ‘energy boost’ with a cardiovascular bias to emphasise the use of heart and lungs combine these sessions with any of the MUSCLE TONING CLASSES for a total body workout.

These classes are based upon group training at their best! With intervals of aerobic training (hear & lungs) and endurance stations(muscles) and boxing drills in our Box Fit class a thorough body workout is the end result….how hard the class is depends entirely on you. Enjoy an all round workout.

These classes contain some aerobic work and a wide range of exercises for particular muscles, upper & lower body. With the optional use of hand weights and multi-muscle combinations you can work to your own level within the class. Each session will include a section of work on the abdominals (stomach) and lower back which will aid good posture.
Our Bootcamp and classes will challenge you and push you to your limits. Get ready to take yourselves to the next level!

We are currently putting together a class timetable that can safely be delivered in accordance with social distancing measures. 

We’ll be following guidance from UK Active, which you can read in detail by clicking here

Measures will include strictly limiting the number of people in each class. And having a minimum 10 minute gap between classes to allow for cleaning.
